Don’t modify my food.
Posted in Being vegan No Comments
Scientists have been working on ways to modify our food. For years a company called Monsanto has been creating seeds that grow plants that don’t die when sprayed with weed killer. Imagine what you would have to do to the plant to make it not die from a chemical designed to kill it. The same modifications go all the way into the food.
Now, scientists in Australia have created an apple that last 4 times as long, and is more rot resistant.
I don’t know about you, but I prefer my fruits and vegetables as nature intended, not as science intended. Always check the ingredients for “NGMO: or “Non-GMO” (GMO = Genetically Modified Organisms)
Eat organic! Eat local!

Nothing cool about hunting.
Posted in Being vegan No Comments
There is nothing cool about hunting. Sunday November 15th is the start of hunting season. You know, that special time when drunk men wearing plaid walk into the woods with a loaded rifle and shoot defenseless animals. Very cool.
When someone protests hunting, people always talk about “thinning the herds”. Apparently there is a limited number of deer, bears, moose and other wildlife that is considered acceptable for the planet. What about thinning the human herd? No one ever says “We have too many humans.”, even though we do. Scientists have determined that under “natural” circumstances, the planet can sustain 2 billion people. There are currently over 6 billion people on the planet. So tell me, what herd needs to be thinned?
If you talk to human population control, people often freak out. But shooting wolves from a helicopter is okay.
The human species is very hypocritical.

Why humans are more like herbivores than carnivores.

Are we carnivores, omnivores or herbivores?
If you compare us to other herbivores, you can see that we are more like them, than unalike. The similarities are show that humans may in fact be herbivores, and that our meat-eating lifestyle may be responsible for many of our health issues.
